Prerequisite: Must have a completed 21" Ecorche Skeleton from a previous class.
Materials Needed: Two blocks of NSP Brown Chavant Oil Based Clay- buy from instructor, Studio Pintura, or order your own. Also, bring some modeling tools.

Workshop Description:
Using the skeleton from class one you will learn the process of applying the muscles. You may choose to sculpt the muscles on the right side or both. We will start with the leg then torso next the arm and lastly the head. We sculpt the deepest muscles and layer out. This technique will teach you not only the muscle origins and insertions but also mass , form , tendons, fat pads, and the bones showing through. This unique process of studying anatomy will benifit artist who draw, paint and sculpt the human form.
- Session 1: Adding the upper leg muscles
- Session 2: Adding the lower leg muscles
- (Homework: Refine as instructed.)
- Session 3: Adding the torso muscles
- Session 4: adding the arm muscles
- (Homework: Refine as instructed)
- Session 5: adding the muscles to the skull
- Session 6: refining the head muscles and where needed

1. (Complete) MOLDING AND CASTING FROM A CLAY SCULPTURE:
Two Weekends (Saturday and Sunday)

Workshop Description:
- You supply your own small clay sculpture. You'll be guided through the process of capturing the shape and details of the sculpture with a rubber mold.
- Next, you will be instructed on creating a plaster mother mold on the outside of the cured rubber.
- After the mold is complete we will make plaster casts of the original sculpture.
- Other types of mold making and casting techniques will also be discussed.
Prerequisite: Must have completed previous sculpture projects, and have a sculpture less than 9" tall that you would like to cast.
Materials provided include:

Molding Plaster
Hemp fiber for the Mother Mold.

2. (Complete) BRONZE CASTING AND FINISHING
Two Saturdays: October 19 and November 23 • 2019
11:00 AM– 3:00 PM each day
Tuition Fee $400

Materials:
estimated $50-$100 bronze casting fee. Specific estimates will be provided before class begins.
$15 for Patina chemicals.
Tools to bring:Dremmel tool with reinforced grinding discs, angle grinder if you have one.

American Bronze Casting in Osceola.
Workshop Description:
- Using molds created from the previous casting workshop, participants will be instructed on creating a wax sculpture from the rubber mold. We will refine the wax and prepare it for bronze casting.
- We will also tour the foundry, American Bronze Casting in Osceola, to learn more about the process.
- Once the sculpture has been cast in bronze and spot welded by American Bronze Casting, participants will refine and finish the bronze, preparing it for the application of the patina. (The added color used on bronze casting).
- We will learn the basic patina process using a pot ash base coat, then a ferric nitrate second coat, then a final wax coat.

Workshop Description:
- Session 1 (Nov 9) Pose your armature and apply clay over it, with instruction in anatomy and use of the clay.
- Session 2 (Nov 10) Finish blocking in and start refining major forms.
- Session 3 ( Dec 7) Continue to refine surfaces and map out the ribcage
- Session 4 (Dec 8) Refine the ribcage and other areas
- Session 5 (Dec 14) Refine the surface palnes and find the landmarks of the skull.
- Session 6 (Dec 15) Refine and finish all remaining surfaces.
